How Long Does a Game of Keno Take

Keno is a lottery-like gambling game that traces its roots back to Ming Dynasty China. In it, a player must choose between three and twenty numbers between 1 and 80 and then twenty numbers are drawn as in a normal lotto. The numbers chosen and the amount of numbers chosen will then determine the winnings paid out. The optimum amount of numbers to pick is believed to be between 4 and 8, but that’s always up to the player.

The question is, though, for how long does a game of keno last?

There actually isn’t a simple answer to this question. It’s more or less the same as “how long is a piece of string”? It varies from game to game, from casino to casino, from online site to online site.

That said, you can basically break it down according to the two kinds of keno games there are.

  • 24/7 keno games. These aren’t necessarily played literally for 24 hours, seven days a week, 365 days a year, but this version of keno involves new numbers being drawn every few minutes, dozens of times a day. Each game therefore has to be completed between each draw so they typically last around five minutes – sometimes quite a bit less.
  • Daily keno games. These only happen once or twice a day at a casino and are therefore much more relaxed in terms of picking the numbers you want and placing your bet.

Regardless, keno is a quick, easy game that like the lotto requires minimal time to play and almost zero knowhow beyond knowing to choose a handful of numbers between 1 and 80 and hoping you come up tops.
